Aftermath Of the Rescue Mission

After the disaster at the tamed base, Hadrea scolded the hell out of sheyton.

Hadrea:"I left you in charge and what do I get? A harmony General escapes, my base in ruins and you have put dirt in the Tamed name."

Sheyton:" I'm deeply sorry Hadrea" Sheyton knelt down pleading for mercy. "We tried our best to stop them. They had a bat infected that was weird."

Hadrea stopped for a moment as she was about to land another blow to his face. "Tell me more about this bat infected."

Sheyton moved back a bit away from the reach of hadrea's hand. "Well...he was a weird guy. He wore armor on his body and resembled these mythology warriors of long ago."

Hadrea: "At least you didn't lose your head. It seems we are not at a loss after all."

Sheyton got back on his feet. "What do you mean?"

Hadrea: idiot! There are very few people that dress like that. I'll go to the GG to pull out all the records they have on all Knighthood families."

Sheyton: "What about me?"

Hadrea looked at him with narrow eyes. "You are coming along of course. You'll identify the bastard for me. Let's go."

Hadrea turned and left and sheyton followed.

In the GG branch department, Hadrea got her information and uploaded them into an image generator screen. Then 13 families in the Royal Knighthood showed up.

Hadrea: “How old is the guy?”
Sheyton: “Ehm… early 20’s, I think.” Sheyton murmured.

Hadrea typed the details in and 7 images showed up. Sheyton walked up and was easily able to identify one of them as Duke.

Hadrea: “Duke Lightsteiner. Are you sure?”
Sheyton: “Positive.”

Hadrea wanted to access Duke’s details but his files said deceased. Hadrea turned to Sheyton, grabbed him and faced him to the screen.

Hadrea: “It says here he’s dead! How can he be the one you saw!?” Hadrea said annoyingly.
Sheyton: “I… I’m serious! My injuries are evidence enough.”

Hadrea pushed Sheyton aside and read more into Duke’s file.
Hadrea: “He was once a warrior in a group of vigilantes that is under the GG and died in action in a cave close to a town that was attacked by bats. Hmmmmm……”

Hadrea left the image screen and left.
Hadrea: “Come on you; let’s go to this vigilante group.”

Hadrea and Sheyton arrived at the base of the Vigilante Force. They were people of all sorts of classes and abilities but one thing was that, they were humans. Hadrea went straight for the main building and asked for the in charge.

………..: “What do the likes of you want here lady?”
Hadrea: “My name is Hadrea Vanguard, leader of the Tamed. Im here to asked about a former member of yours, Duke Lightsteiner.”
………...: “Hmmmm… The name is Commander Josh Blackwing. I served in the GG once under your father before being in charge around here. Follow me.”

Commander Josh led Hadrea and Sheyton through the barracks.
Commander Josh: “Duke was one of my exceptionally skilled men. He was a born fighter so to speak.”
“Humph, tell me about it” Sheyton murmured under his voice.
Hadrea: “But how did he pass away?”
Commander Josh: “He and a group of young men went to help a town that was being attacked by bats. When we didn’t receive word from him for days, we sent men to find out what was wrong but only found some dead corpses of the men.”
Hadrea: “But His body wasn’t among them, right?”
Commander Josh was surprised to hear that. “Yes. Do you know something miss?”
Hadrea: “Maybe. Is there anyone around here that was close to him? A partner perhaps.”
Commander Josh: “He had friends, but there is one that you could call a partner.”

Commander Josh led them to the female quarters and asked for a lady called Isabella. Then a young lady walked up to them.
Commander Josh: “Isabella, this lady is Hadrea the leader of the Tamed, a group of infected that work for the GG.”
Isabella: “So? What do they want?”

Hadrea walked up to her.
Hadrea: Can we have a little lady to lady talk Isabella.”
Hadrea led Isabella away from the rest to a less disturbing area.
Isabella: “This better be good. So, what’s this about?”
Hadrea: “It’s about your former partner Duke.”

Isabella now had a frown on her face. She wasn’t pleased to hear about her dead partner’s name from a nobody.
Isabella: “What about Duke? He’s dead you know, don’t expect me to talk jack about my dead partner.”

Isabella was about to walk away. When Hadrea spoke a statement she didn’t expect to hear.
Hadrea: “What if he wasn’t dead?”

Isabella turned around shocked.
Isabella: “What!? Don’t fuck with me miss. You are saying he’s alive?”
Hadrea: “tell me what you know about him and I’ll tell you mine.”
Isabella: “……Fine. I met Duke two years back. I was in the slums then, a street kid. I had to steal to survive. But there was a day I heard of a powerful group that came around to spend the night then move on. So I decided to steal some of their equipment. I did steal their equipment, but they found out and came for me, three of them to be exact. I fought them off because I know boxing. I tried my best to hold out but they were too skilled and they over powered me. A fourth man walked in and ordered the others to leave me. This man was Duke. That’s right; it was his division of the vigilante force that came around that day. But instead of him to arrest me, he offered me a chance to join the force and work with him. I didn’t have a choice then and I decided to follow him. But with time, I began to idolize him and became his partner. The only thing I know about him is where his family stay.”
Hadrea: “Humph good story. He hasn’t contacted you since has he?”
Isabella: “No, is he alive and well?”
Hadrea: “He’s alive, but I can’t say the same about him being well. I take the family address now.”
Isabella: “What do you mean?”
Hadrea: “You’ll find out soon.”
Hadrea left and went back to meet Sheyton.
Sheyton: “What’s next Hadrea? Did you get what you wanted?”
Hadrea: “She was a bit helpful. I understand now how you couldn’t defeat him. Now, we go to his family house.”

As Hadrea and Sheyton approached the estate owned by Duke’s family, a GG officer dressed in Knight Armor blocked them.
………: “I see you have been snooping around Miss Hadrea Vanguard, leader of the Tamed.”
Hadrea: “You have been trailing us haven’t you? Who are you?”
………: “A GG Knight as you can see. But, I can’t let you go any further.”
Sheyton: “Are you threatening us?”

Sheyton transformed and dashed straight for the GG Knight. The knight ducked under Sheyton’s attack and landed a heavy blow to his stomach to put him down.
………: “Settle down mister, I’m here to fight. If you need answers, I’ll gladly answer them if I can.”
Hadrea: “Fine then. Where is Duke Lightsteiner and what do you know about his current activities?
………: “I have been tracking Duke ever since he left the Vigilante Force. He’s now with the Harmony, your worst enemy. About his where about, I know not.”
Hadrea: “But you know how to track him?”
……….: “I know how to predict him, that’s all. Now that I have answered your questions, please leave.”
Hadrea: “Not until you tell me how to catch him.”

The knight sighed then pulled out an image disk that displayed a hologram of the GG emblem.
……….: “This here in my hand is an official order by the GG given to me to track him. If anyone is to interfere with this mission, they will face the wrath of the GG army. And I’m sure you don’t want to face your father miss Hadrea.”

Hadrea backed up a bit then grumbled.
Hadrea: “Alright, he’s all yours.”
Hadrea turned and left while dragging Sheyton by the tail away. The GG Knight turned and looked at the Mansion in the estate.
“It’s only a matter of time before he tries to come back here. I’ll be waiting Duke.”

Meanwhile, Duke had finally decided to go home and see his family after being convinced by his friend Meglin. Hope, his new found love decided to follow him. It was a long journey but both Duke and Hope have Bat parasites, so they flew there. When they got close to the state, they changed back to human forms and walked in. As they go closer to the Mansion, they were shot at. They looked around and saw some GG soldiers from afar. They wanted to run away but they saw the GG Knight walked to them.
……..: “I knew you would show up soon or later.”
Duke: “How did you…”
……..: “I know you too well. I have studied you even before you became infected.”
Duke: “What have you done to my family?”
……..: “Don’t worry, they are fine. We told them that a threat was coming this way and they should leave and they did.”
Duke: “You said you know me, have we met before?”

The GG Knight was silent for a moment before he spoke up.
……..: “I guess it’s high time I revealed myself to you.”

The knight removed his helmet and revealed himself. Duke was in shock to see who it was. He did not expect to see who he saw.
Duke: “Brother Kaiser!!”
Hope: “Hun! I thought you told me he was dead?”
Duke: “He was supposed to be.”
Kaiser: “Long time Duke. Actually, I never died. It was a setup by the GG to adopt me into the army.”
Duke: “Why didn’t you tell us your family?”
Kaiser: “……. After my accident, the GG recovered me. They said they will heal me, give me a place and a new name if I work for them and break all contacts with everyone. Besides, I wanted to leave this place.”
Duke: “Do you know what I have been through all this years you disappeared? If only you were here, then I won’t have…”
Kaiser: “…been then taken away and used by the GG? Hah! It was I who told them to recruit you. To break you out of the families’ wing so they won’t use you like they did me. But I never anticipated you being an infected.”
Duke: “What now brother? You want to kill me?”
Kaiser: “NO, I’ll never kill my own brother. I’m taking you back with me. We’re going to try and free you from this curse of a parasite and make you normal. Come with me.”

Kaiser put out his hand for his brother to receive it. But Hope steps between them.
Hope: “But do you think your brother wants that? Are you even asking how he feels?”
Kaiser: “Young lady, I don’t know who you are but he can’t reject me because I’m his brother. I know what’s best for him.”
Hope: “I’m his girlfriend and that’s just stupid.”

Duke puts his hand on Hope’s shoulder for her to stand down.
Duke: “It’s alright dear, I got this. Kaiser, you sound just like father, ordering me around as if I don’t have a say in the matter. But that’s all changed now I’m happy where I am and I’m not leaving.”

Kaiser looked straight into his brother’s eyes before he walked up to him and hugs him.
Kaiser: “You really have matured brother. You can stand up on your own two feet now. Go, I’ll give you a head’s start. After now, I’ll come after you.

Still surprised Duke hugged his brother back. Kaiser then released Duke to go. Duke held Hope and walked pass Kaiser. Kaiser whispered something in Duke’s ear as he walked pass him.
Duke: “Thanks brother, could you tell our parents that I’m alive and well when they get back?”
Kaiser: “Sure, now go.”

Duke and Hope transformed into symbiote forms and flew off. The other GG soldiers ran up to Kaiser.
GG Soldier: “But Sir, we had them.”
“Don’t worry” Kaiser replied “I put a tracker on him. We’ll use it to locate Harmony base and take him out. Let’s go”

The GG men left fast after them.

Duke and Hope where still in the air when he suddenly halted.
Hope: "what is it?"

Duke put his hand into his hair and pulled out a device that was beeping.
Hope: "A tracking device! Your brother must have put it in your hair when he hugged you."
Duke: "Yeah, I know."

Duke crushed the device in his hands.
Duke: "He told me about it."

Hope was puzzled.
Hope: "He put it in and then told you about it? I don't get it."
Duke: "He's a member of the GG. He couldn't let me go with any good reason. I understood him. Its just, I'm happy and sad at the same time.

Hope hugs him.
Hope: its alright, you just saw your brother from long ago. But he's with the enemies now, he has made his position clear. I'm here with you and we'll get through this."

Duke holds her hand and flies off.
